  • “I’m not trying to turn you into me, I’m trying to turn you into you” (master Shifu)
One size only fits one.
  • “There is no secret ingredient” (Mr. Ping)
  • “If you only do what you can do, you’ll never be more than what you are now” (master Shifu)
  • “Let go of the illusion of control” (master Oogway)
  • “There’s just news, there’s no good or bad” (master Oogway)
Slechte resultaten?

Dus marketeers, eat up to your potential and prepare for awesomeness! :-)

Marketing lessons from… Kung Fu Panda

Of course you can turn to the all time favourite marketing gurus, but sometimes you can also get your marketing advice from a completely different source. The three Kung Fu Panda movies provide – in addition to many general life lessons – a number of valuable marketing lessons to be learned.

Life lessons are business lessons

Those who know me, know that I am a fan of Kung Fu Panda. I even discovered so many similarities between me and pandas that I devoted an entire article to them ;-) The films contain a lot of life lessons – which are really touching, because they are brought to you via a big, cuddly and ‘humanised’ panda. Many of these lessons can very well be translated to your business and marketing.

Become a Marketing Warrior

The Kung Fu Panda films are about believing in yourself (1), accepting yourself (2) and being yourself (3). That alone is of course the basis for brining a company or a brand to market. In the three movies panda Po receives lessons about life that help him in his development into the ‘Dragon Warrior’. These Kung Fu Panda marketing lessons help you become a Marketing Warrior ;-)

5 Marketing lessons from Kung Fu Panda:

  • “I’m not trying to turn you into me, I’m trying to turn you into you” (master Shifu)
Each brand has its own unique characteristics and identity. Make use of that. Marketing is not a trick. One size only fits one. Don’t copy the neighbour. But be original and start from what makes you, you.
  • “There is no secret ingredient” (Mr. Ping)
There’s no quick fix or secret ingredient that makes everything instantly delicious. Marketing is a complex puzzle in which subtle details can make the difference. Be patient and continue until you have created your best recipe.
  • “If you only do what you can do, you’ll never be more than what you are now” (master Shifu)
Getting your brand out there and doing your marketing takes time, energy and money. If you’re not willing to invest and you keep on doing what you always did, you won’t see any improvement. Open up and use creativity to distinguish yourself positively.
  • “Let go of the illusion of control” (master Oogway)
Marketing means ‘to promote and sell to the market’ and the market consists of … people. And you can’t control people. The only thing you can influence are the means and stimuli you offer. So do your work as well as possible and experience how your target group responds.
  • “There’s just news, there’s no good or bad” (master Oogway)
Bad results? Well, of course you got to have goals. But áll your marketing activities lead to results. From every result you learn and these learnings help you adjust. Think of marketing as a continuous process, not a one-time-thing.

So marketers, eat up to your potential and prepare for awesomeness! :-)
